Welcome to Ashburton College Friends
Forty one years since foundation and now another appropriate step along the way in cementing close relationships between School and Community.
The original Board and Principal quickly realised that Ashburton College WAS the community aged 13 to 17. They sought to develop a school which young people were happy to attend; where their potential could be realised; where teachers could equally realise their professional potential and where the whole community of parents and employers could have mutual respect and have pride in their school. The Crest and Motto suggest regeneration and self-renewal across the generations.

In this connection from my own experience over many years I cannot improve on Hilaire Belloc’s lovely words.
“From quiet homes and first beginning,
Out to the undiscovered ends,
There’s nothing worth the wear of winning
But laughter and the love of friends.”
So may I wish the Ashburton College Friends “much laughter and the love of many friends” along the way and thank them for honouring me in appointing me their Patron.
